• D-TTL (Automatic Balanced Fill-Flash controlled by five-segment TTL Multi Sensor ) with built-in Speedlight and external Speedllight such as SB-80DX/28DX/50DX: three modes available
• Non-TTL Auto Flash with an external Speedlight

Non-TTL does not necessarily make things more difficult. But full manual flash is a bit more troublesome. TTL is only available for those DX series flashes....

See the custom functions, there's an Anti Mirror Shock mode! Just like the one in the D1 series!

If I am not wrong, the D100 NEEDS DX flashes. The regular SB22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 won't work. Only the 28DX, 50DX, 80DX etc will. Time to spend more money.

Oh, not the "true" mirror lockup.

Basically lets you lock the mirror UP for slow exposures to prevent vibration induced camera shake from the mirror moving up and down.

It doesn't "need" them except for TTL, you can use any ordinary flash unit on it without TTL.

That's using the flash's sensor. Easily fooled, but can get around with some experience. But I've been TTL-pampered ever since I got my F100.... Nikon's TTL is so darned good.
