I dunno about the 70-300G but I do know that the 70-300 AF-D ED could yield a pretty decent Macro image with diopters like the 5T and 6T.

get a proper macro lens if you really need to take macro shots. 60mm or 105, both are good lenses. On the cheap, you can consider the 90mm Tamron. Alternatively if you need a lens for still life macro,ou can consider reverse-mounting a 50mm. Cheers, |

Plus, just have to eat cook house for 2 months. should be able to pay. Dont book out that often loh. If you are 3Sg and above, guess, you can afford a Tamron 90 within 1 to 2 months. Regards, tltan |

reverse mount a 50mm in front of the 70-300 will solve the problem.

70-300 G definitely cannot take marco. It's minimum focusing distance is 1.5m. So even at 300mm, it's still not good enough. Besides, at 300mm, it's only f5.6 at best. Shutter speed is going to be slow... Hand-holding it to take marco shots, it's going to be really tough.

I own Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO MACRO DG, which is 1/2 magnification ratio (1:2). IMHO, 1/3.9 still can be use for flower macro. Or butterfly/dragonfly, but maybe later you need to crop it. Regards, Arto. |
