am not sure if this has been asked before.
i have read that saturation may affect your image in terms of noise when shooting at higher ISO do we just leave it all to 0? what about the sharpness etc. etc. in totallity what's the safest possible parameter setting to use? considering that the output image will be process afterwards tia |

Shoot in RAW then for the greatest control
I normally use -1 for contrast and saturation and 0 for sharpening with my 70-200. You might need to bump it up a little for softer lenses. |

Contrast +1
Sharpness +2 Saturation +2 However, if you intend to do less post processing Stick to Parameter 1. |

This is really personal preference... I go with +1 for all.

Last time I used to set contrast +1, but lately after using the 17-40 & 70-200 f/4L, contrast = 0 looks more natural. I quite like rich color, so pump +1 at Saturation. Sharpness so far quite good / acceptable to my taste straight out of the 20d + L, hence +2 without much post processing needs.
Hence my home settings: Contrast 0 Saturation +1 Sharpness +2 Btw, I shoot RAW for later minor exposure & WB adjustment if necesssary. Cheers!

Otherwise, just push Sharpness up to +2. Personally, I like the colours I get when Saturation is set at +2, but your mileage may vary. |
