it just switch off the passive IR focus assist. when you have a lens on, the IR assist (located at the base of the flash) would not work properly cos it's blocked by the lens.

i am thinking the IR assist will be blocked by a TC or WC anyway, whether you switch Adapter Ring on or off, as most of them measure 72mm minimum diameter, and directly in line with the IR assist.
Anyway, when i switch the Adapter Ring to On, the lens part seems to make a sound too, so perhaps there is something else going on other than the IR assist switching off. |

hi guys! i've noticed something with regard 2 the adapter on/off setting thingy.
at max wa or tele, with the adapter ring physically attached 2 the cam n adapter setting put 2 "on"; the pic taken appears nearer or bigger. if its set 2 "off", the pic appears slightly further away or smaller. no noticeable difference if the adapter ring is not attached 2 the cam when playing around with the on/off setting. i dunno whether its part of the characteristic so maybe u guys can try it out n enlighten me. still very new 2 photography. cheers! |

Did u make sure u zoom out to the widest each time u too the pic? Cos sometimes the camera when switch off will auto zoom in a little at power up.... From my test....not wider or bigger...its the same. Shld be quite accurate cos i did it on a tripod... ![]() |
