Will be going NDP this weekend, is tripod allowed? which wide angle lens is more suitable, Canon 10-22 or 17-55? thanks. I believe 100-400 more appropriate than 70-200 for zoom shots.

Well, I have a hand at it last week. Below are some feedback.
The lighting at the front sucks. So all the energertic drummers and dancers during the finale fronting the grandstand did not turn up well for me. Go for the fast and low light lens. There is a display where lots of blue and white light poping up. A wide lens is a good option this year. Be ready for it and change lens fast. The light pops on and off. It is somewhere in the first half. The multitude red lions makes great shoot this year. 200 to 300 mm should be fine. Watch out for the last one with the flag. There is a band display from a school. This is right in the beginning before the contingent marhing in. The multiple change of flags by a bevy of ladies makes it interesting to shoot. The march past is wonderful. The contingents are great. 70 to 200 suffice if you are at the grandstand. Some motivators are great. Cheerful and energetic. 85mm won't go wrong. Most important - Bring a tripod. And two cam if you have strong shoulders. Happy shooting. |
