Just got mine last week, love this lens...considered extensively since there is lots or debate abt the sharpness....Test yourself carefully and decide...
Mine is $2200. |

its excellent. mine is sharp from 2.8 and its same sharpness at 5.6 amazing... only thing its BIG with the hood...i love it.

excellent lens for almost everything. :d sharpness stays from f/4 - f/16.

This is one lens that is permanently fixed on my camera. Images are sharp even at f2.8. The reach of 55 is useful esp for events photography.
There's a on-going MO for a warrantied set at $2,050 and a grey set for $1,700. I heard CP quoting $2,260 last week when I was there. |

Currently strongly considering getting one as well. Will replace my (just sold) 12-24 and my current permanent lens (24-120) so all in all I'm trading zoom against quality.

No aperture ring one... Not nice without A-ring. But this G lenses can shoot very nice pictures. ![]() |

The G lens probably less of an issue in DSLR world...however the other thing is that this is DX lens so should Nikon decided to go FF in near future for their DSLR one needs to invest more money on lenses for FF body.

If you have the $$ to buy the FF body then you should have no issue to buy a FF lens
