Thread: Wide-angle converter for SLR lenses?

Default Wide-angle converter for SLR lenses?

    Hi,

I'm wondering if there's such a thing as wide-angle converter filters you can attach to increase the view angle of SLR lenses? Eg. If I have a 28mm (35mm film equiv.) lens, by simply attaching a filter I'll get a 20mm (for example) lens' view angle.

yes of cos, you can use those wcon used by prosumer camera. but it degrade the quality, thats y most go for wide lens rather than to use a wcon

Most people only use w-cons because they cannot change the lens. Having a SLR means that you cna change the lens to suit the situation which is a luxury PnS cams dont have.

then again, if u dont use a WA often, maybe can consider... after all, good WA on a 1.6 crop dont come cheap.

    A 18-70mm isn't that expensive.

there are some very good wide convertors out there. problem is they are usually very big and heavy. they can be screwed to the front of your lens filter thread but it will be very bad for you lens motor during AF, need to drive the wt.

i have e olympus wcon-08, tried in on a 35mm to get a 28. gave up idea after listening to how hard the af have to work.
