Mebbe if I'm taking photos for the money. But as it is, it's just a hobby, so no point for me to invest in multiple bodies yet.

    Hey Garion,

At one time you had two DSLRs right

Well you could look at it from a business point of view, and work out the cost of owning and maintaining a second body. in some cases it may make more sense to just rent equipment as you need it.

From a can't-miss-a-shot POV, a 2nd body is always good insurance.

From a strike-lottery POV, I think consumption after winning is good

Using/owning how many bodies I guess is anybody's pref lar.

Actually I have 3 sets of everything, all digital (including flash, CF, lens, backup batts). Forget about the service centre (though I am NPS), coz for me I don't really have much free slots to put there repair (And then still gotta collect) definitely will miss a shoot or two. Besides if they gimme a body which I don't know how to use, then really bang balls.
And besides loaning is actually not a confirmed thingy.

Let me explain, if i have 2 bodies, 1 fail, takes 2 weeks to repair, i can only shoot with 1 body only....die man. I prefer to trust myself. Shooting hard and trying to deliver day after day is stressful enough, prefer not to add more uncertainties to it lor. For events sometimes they need near-live pics, be it for the media or what, so it's a pressure cooker.

PC, stuff like CF card reader also need backups! Don't forget. That's another avenue for screw ups. Seen a VG screwed up the Express Highlights montage due to PC problem.

Of course for shooting, 2 sets is enough lar. 1 stays in the dry box.

Before you buy, tell her you need a 2nd body and give her the choice of a camera's or a woman's.

Mine cannot be consider as backup. It's just my trusty F80 that I don't feel like letting go. But if my Dslr kaput, then at least still got something. Ha Ha.
