I feel a sense of 'Hidden' Dictatorship in Singapore. Just how i feel. Democracy is just a packaging.

Tsk tsk one should not question our glorious leaders in white who stand for purity... just as you shouldnt question why their pay is so high, similarly you should not question any deals that Temasek makes. Whatever decision the party makes is for the good of the people. Of course sometimes some sacrifices are to be made but to achieve big things, hard decisions must be made.

I'm afraid of starting on this topic... I may say things that get me in hot waters...

    But two things:
    1) Catherine Lim affair
    2) Democracy: The government is by the people, for the people.

From the Reporters Sans Frontiere (RSF) webby: "Singapore (140th), which has a quite different style, still has a very low ranking because the government headed by the son of founding father Lee Kwan Yew keeps its grip on the media and uses drastic laws to crack down on the few independent journalists."

Indeed I would like to believe this as far as acceptance of "contrarian commentary" is concerned.

Sadly as the most privileged of privileged folks has pointed out rather unabashedly to a group of young foreign trained reporters, not in my time.

Hoping for the Singapore equivalent of V?? Dream on. It'll never happen. Quote me and say "never say never" if you so wish. You're entitled to hope.

I think what the garment did very well that earns my respect is the cleaning of the Singapore river. I think it is a miracle that the riveris clean today.
