Happens to come across a good old EF28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM II at a very good price.
I am thinking whether to get it as a spare general lens. Would like to know the opinion of fellow CSers. How would it perform when matched up with a 1.6xLF DSLR apart from the fact that it will become a 44.8 - 168mm lens. Is its image quality comparable to that of the EFS 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM when mounted to the DSLR? Any feedback are appreciated. |

Definitely a good lens. If you get a sharp copy, it will perform really great.
Check out this pic taken by the 28-105 Mk2... ![]()

Wow, that's fantastically sharp and great image quality from a reasonably cheap lens.
Thanks, holeinone. Just curious , no PS done on the pic. right? What about the colour produced by it? So you would recomend it if its a good copy. If it is , may go and grab hold of it. Cheers ![]() |

I must say I was quite amazed with the quality of this lens too. Got it for only $280 off a CS-er and it's still with me.
I only did some leveling to adjust the brightness, otherwise the photo is untouched. No sharpening or colour correction done. It's definitely a good buy.

I own this len too...
Usually shoot from f8 onwards, and I think the range is decent for me... I am a flim user, and not digital... but I love the range for my film SLR.... Think ever shoot wide open, and it is still ok for me... but I am just an ameture... who believe in this... a pic composition and the emotion in a pic is more important than the lens and equiment used.... Good enough for me...... ![]()
