Yes, this MO is just for the case with no HDD. We have done this for flexibility of our customers and for those who already have small HDD's, to save money - they can use their own HDD's.

1. can i view the photos in the device ;
2. does this device supports NTFS formatted hdd? (meaning I'll be able to see the necessary disk info even if i have my HDD formatted NTFS)

as far as i know - it does only FAT32 not NTFS.

Can it read 4GB transcend CF cards?

I have problem with another brand casing, which cannot read my 4Gb transcend CF, so looking for a replacement casing.

They have tried a 4gb CF as I have enquired by pm (dont know what brand though). Also tried 60gb harddisk.

According to the tests:
- The Digimate III will work with 4GB cards.
- A Lexar 1GB 80x can be transferred just under 2min.
- As for the file system, it support FAT32 (ie. upto 32GB) per partition.
- If there is more than one partition, it can detect and copy to the partition once the earlier is filled.

In all, it is a value-for-money solution, much smaller form factor than the PD70x.

I have the Digimate II plus, but the battery cannot be removed/replaced. I have never tried opening it because there's still no need to. You mean the new model has a removable battery? That's great!
