It's possible that some other VIP guests are invited by the organisers for each of the fireworks displays.

Ya! You are right...when I saw your post just above...I thought it was you, too. Early Birds...but I saw you playing with your cam a lot...that was why your batts died so fast, right?

Btw, I shot all in landscape mode...hehe. Reason being that I toured the Bridge...found out that no matter in which part the portrait way not good...that why I ended up there just beside you.

    Cheers!!!

Merlion park and esplandane bridge are the best place for firework.

However mine is only the Tokina 12-24mm. The one with the all blue firework shot is actually not that well captured. I PSed it a little bit so that it appears to be perfectly framed...

Actually the reason of why my batt died fast is becos i was using the LCD screen instead, cos my batt was fully charge. Having the fact in mind, i exploited it's power. And then it died

portrait would be much difficult to gauze for framing also, tt's why lanscape rocks for this case. anyway, you going again tomorrow?

if u position urself nearer to the merlion, you can get the merlion into your frame... forgot which thread i saw someone actually did it.

Just wondering - is it similar setting to take those great fireworks shot between film & digital SLR. Set to bulb / F16 / 30 secs... Correct me if I'm wrong!

    Glad u like it.
    What it P&S?

    My settings:
    1) The most impt thing to have is a tripod. Err... $20+ from careffour.

    2) F6.3/7.1. I tried F8, but its too dark, and having longer exposure will have too many fireworks pattern overlap all together.

    3) Depending on the type of fireworks, I switched the exposure time from 4-8secs. I don't have a remote, thus I use my judgement by listening to the music. Usually in a fireworks show, the start and end will be BRIGHT, with alot of patterns all going up at once quickly, for a short time. Hence, the exposure time should will shorter, e.g. 3-4 secs.
In the middle, if the music is slower... the patterns usually are darker and more lasting, and there are lesser flowers. This is the time you can breathe and compose urself. Try to spot a rising red dot, once u sees that, start exposure, until the entire flower is opened. =) This way, you will be able to see the entire "flower" with its "stem". Exposure about 6-8 secs.
8 secs may be too long if F8.0. I know of ppl who exposure for 15 secs, with >=F8.0.

    4) white balance... err... I dunno... so AUTO lor.. =)
