Cool MO: RAYNOX FishEye Lens DCR-CF185PRO

Hi All,

Please note that one of the most unique fisheye lenses on the market has now been made available to Singapore photographers – Raynox DCR-CF185PRO, on a mass-order basis!
http://raynox.co.jp/english/dcr/dcrcf185pro/index.htm

This is an interesting lens compatible with both DSLRs and digital cameras. It can create 2 effects – Ultrawide and Circular Fisheye for most digital cameras, depending on how the lens is zoomed.

Good news! 1 sample has arrived for potential users to try it out to see if the effect is satisfactory! Just be present during one of Morphis’ collection sessions to test it out with your camera!

Raynox will give us better rates when we order 10 or more pieces. So we would like to pass the savings back to you, at only S$599nett! Our usual price is S$649nett each. Nevertheless this 3rd-party lens is still considered to be very affordable compared to other fisheye lenses from established brands.

This mass order will close by 15 Jul 06 unless advised otherwise. If it doesn’t hit ten, but close enough, we will still try to bring these in! So, do help us so that we can help you!

MO for Raynox DCR-CF185PRO at S$599nett:

Hi All,

Please note that due to change of plans, there'll be no sample testing for this MO.

Thanks,
Jim, McGill

Hi Jim,

- The lens is a good subsitute for the normal fish eye lens, but seems like it fixed for Nikon Coolpix series. Any adapters can be used for the SLR series ike D200 ?

Thanks

Hi sooss,

The issue is not Nikon Coolpix or DSLR. It's the lens you use and the filter thread of this lens for your D200. The DCR-CF185PRO has performed outstandingly with Canon 300D w/18-55mm lens. So I suppose with compatible lenses, this fisheye lens will fit the D200 as well!

No need for adapters if your lens thread is 52mm or 58mm as Raynox will provide these 2 free of charge!

Cheers,
Jim, McGill

Will the camera be able to auto-focus or get accurate metering with the lens attached?

Hi huggable,

This is a general question which is more dependent on your digital camera/DSLR/SLR model. Full lens-camera compatibility might not be realised completely when using a 3rd-party lens, unless the lens is specifically designed for a particular camera.

So far no problem with most digital cameras on the market. You can check the following link to find out more concerning the performance of your camera:
http://raynox.co.jp/english/egindex.htm

Locate your camera model on the left hand column and see what the official Raynox comments are. It should be very helpful to you.

If still have queries, please let me know here.

Thanks,
Jim, McGill
