Default The Bigger Picture

Hey boys and girls,
I just myself a new 'toy'.. (10.5mm)...
This len is sweeeeet man!... Too bad I could only use it on my D70 instead of my D1X which would probably produce a better sun burst. Only have wide port for my sea & sea ( which houses my D70) but none on my D1X (which is in a seacam!) It's stipid... I know!... Don't ask me how it happen!
Anyway here's some pics I did on a recent trip to good old Tioman...

http://www.imagestation.com/album/pi...?id=2104782186

Only loaded a few... will load more when I have the time...
Enjoy!

Cheers!

Nice WA shots. I like the sunburst...Did you underexposured and shot at high shutter speed to get the detailed ray of sunburst?

Just curious did you crop your pic? I noticed I do get softness around the edge of my pic when I shot at wide angle of 10-12mm. I use a dome port as well.

Yes, underexposing a little helps. you should control the exposure of the burst with your shutter. Deapth, time of day(4pm and beyond is good), and water condition plays an important role too.

No, I don't crop most of my pics. Even if I do, its for composition. The softness around the edges are probably due to distortion cause by your port. Is it a fish-eye or a super dome? What housing are you using? Of cos the quality of the glass/plastic makes a difference... why else would an Ikelite dome cost below 1K while a SeaCam cost 3k pluse?

I am using an Ikelite housing and a 6" dome port. Yes..it is plastic, not galss. The 10-22mm canon lens I am using is also not fish eye...maybe that attribute to the softness as well. Other than your 10.5mm do you face any problem of softness using other non fish eye WA lens? Like 12-24mm?

Wah...Seacam dome port cost 3K!!! So the whole setup of body plus 2 ports will hit at least 8K...
