    Question talent or hard work?

just a curious question, do you guys think that being able to take good photos is an inborn talent, or is it something that can be honed? ((:

I think that like most arts you can practice it to perfection but talent just acclerates the process. As photography can be very subjective either way is possible.

with DI, lines are also a bit blurred perhaps..

you may not be a great photographer, but if you have godly PS skills, you could probably turn an average photo into something quite special..

I supposed "practice makes perfect" is true for art. But those with inborn talent and flare and who are also hardworking will gonna stand out from the rest of the crowd (Best of the best)

I think hard work is definitely required for a start, and talents is required for creativities and breakthru; then hardwork come again for consistently producing the excellent work.

i think that's the difference between good works and great works.
give a hardworking, but not talented man a whole lifetime, he may not re-produced what adams ansel did

Maybe some of us will find this pdf article on the myth of talent by professional photographer Carig Tanner interesting!

it's both elements. But first and foremost, whether u are talented or not, work like a dog.

talent of cos. but talent alone cannot take u far. u need passion and hardwork.

if u do not have the talent, u can always work doubly hard to make up for the lack of talent.
most talented ppl are by nature, rather lazy. there're hardworking and talented ppl around. these are the winners and leaders of their respective fields.

work hard. keep going. u'll reach ur goal too, albeit slower and longer.

You'll need both. But I feel that hard work is more important. And you'll need lots of dedication.
