Hi,
In an efort to cut down on multiple nick's or de- and re- registering. Is it of any use to make it compulsory to give your email address, "not for publication" ? Completion of registration is by the email address only. I would not imagine too many would bother to have numerous email addresses. Or, is it not possible (I am none wise on this point) to read the persons net address and log it for future checking ? These are likely dumb questions, I am not savvy internet wise. So please correct me. Cheers ![]()

IIRC CS already does this. Need to click on the email link sent to yr acc. to complete registration I would not imagine too many would bother to have numerous email addresses. Haha you wish. I operate 5 distinct accounts, but of course for benign purposes. Research has shown that the average net user has at least 3-4 distinct email accounts to their name. Or, is it not possible (I am none wise on this point) to read the persons net address and log it for future checking ? Possible if the IP is static. Unfortunately most IP addresses are dynamic, even for broadband accounts. Singtel Magix used static IPs, so you could ban a person be banning his IP. This no longer works since hardly any ISP allocates static IPs to consumer subscriptions. Point is moot as people can log in via wireless access points, so it doesn't matter what his IP is. |

Thanks for the reply. It has been some time since I registered. Didn't remember the way it happened I did not imagine that a person would creat a new email address each time they wanted to register on CS. I have 3 email addresses as it is (for various work related reasons), I would not want to juggle another bunch of them, but point noted. As for IP addresses, as I said, "I am not savvy in that regard" and hence I appreciate your points. Again, thanks for your reply so quick ![]()
