Default Lexar memory cards

Hi,

Not sure where to put this thread so try here cos it's relevant to most KM DSLR owners...

Where can I buy Lexar 2GB CF cards (the non-pro version)??? I have scoured the entire SLS and cannot find them... haven't tried the pro shops except for Alan Photo... the Kingston cards are too slow on the 7D and it seems that Lexar offers the best bang for buck as the Sandisk Ultra II is frightfully expensive...

Thanks!

SLS seems to stock up mostly SD cards. i also cannot find CF cards 2 weeks ago, except maybe kingston

btw, how much should the sandisk ultra II 1Gb cost? funan centre shops selling around 70+

Kingston 2GB Elite Pro cards are going for $83-88 depending on which shop u get them... they are very cheap but also very slow on the 7D... after one card died on me and I lost approx. 150 shots... I am rather wary of Kingston... thus looking for Lexar which has served me well... Anyone using Transcend cards??

Agree... only SD cards and especially mini-SD to cater to the recent surge in sales of digicams as well as phone which take mini-SD cards...

Using Transcend 4Gbytes 120X here, so far so good, speed still cannot able to match Sandisk Ultra though.

My experience:-
speed of Transcend 80X win over Sandisk Ultra 2.

Stange???
In card reader direct to PC, the 120x is indeed very fast, probably faster than Sandisk Ultra II. but in KM 5D, Sandisk Ultra II still faster (in my opinion). Not sure why

you really need to use that kind of speed (133x) or not? Or you shoot RAW+jpg most of the time?

Heard that 100X/ 133X speed of Cf still not that stable in term of transfer the data to pc.
Very easy corrupted the transferred file.

It's 120GB now... I was referring to the Transcend card... btw jimjim, which camera do u use?

A bit difficult to find brands other than Kingston and Sandisk in SLS now... Lexar is the best value at the moment as the price and performance balance is the best IMO... J

ust MO the Transcend 4GB 120x CF card from another forum... see how it goes when I get it... realise that for the 7D u need to format the card before using so that it is more stable... most of my other friends say not necessary for their other brands (Fuji, Oly, Nikon)...

That's pretty expensive... the Kingston 4GB is $83, the Transcend I can get for $87. Speed for Kingston is 50X, Transcend 120X... real world speed - Kingston is slower than a snail (try 20+ seconds for writing 3 extra fine JPEGs to the card - continuous mode) as opposed to 4+ seconds for the Lexar card... Transcend I have no idea... anyway the most important thing is that the card is stable... dun always shoot in burst mode...

120GB?
Transcend- trustable. Never encountered any problem before.
Now they only got 100X/ 133X.
Btw, using 5D
