Went to Bashang grassland 坝上草原 for 5 days. It's located at the border of Hebei and Inner Mongolia. The temperature is very cold at night(about 12 degrees) but at daytime it's quite warm(25deg). A nice scenic place, and closest grassland to Beijing.

Yes indeed the trip is reall enjoyable, though alittle tiring. Don't feel like going to school anymore after I came back For pic #1 I did some pp like color balance, saturation, burn and dodge. For sunrise pic I have to merge two exposures, one exposed for the sky and the other the foreground otherwise the foreground will all just be black . Does it work? |

Indeed this is a heaven for photographers, with such beautiful pastures, nice skies and herds and cattles. |

Why not use an ND filter? I tried using it in Yuanyang, looks ok. |

Fantastic pics! Great scenery is one thing, but you've captured it well! Well done!
How did you get there? By private vehicle? And how long? Is this place difficult to get to on your own? ie. public buses/trains etc? What about accommodation options? Sorry for so many questions, love going to such places ![]() Thanks! |

![]() This trip I went with a group of local Beijingphotographers from www.jiankou.net , didn't know any one of them but a local Beijing friends introduced me to this trip. I paid 1200rmb which included everything from transport to accomodation and breakfast/lunch/dinner.Stayed at a decent 'backpackers' hotel, with simple amenities. We drove 8 hours from Beijing in a mini bus. The good thing about the this trip is that since they're all seasoned photographers and know the routes well already, we get to stay longer and explore 1 part of the grassland at one time. The trip organiser will be organising one more next month 19th July. Actually he told me that he goes to Bashang 4 times a year. I am sure if you wish to join them you can login to their webby and look into the forum under 'activities subthread'. |

Really nice series of pics.
I really like the first one with the rainbow, the #1 & #3. Indeed great job. Particularly I like the vibrant color and richness of life. It's like they can "talk" about the place. Those pics doed do justice to this gorgeous place. Thanks for sharing. ![]() |
