that lens is built to last and i like particularly the point it has Internal focusing ..
However.. it weighs like a beer can of that size .. (with beer inclusive of course). I paid $300 for it 2nd hand Subsequently, i switch to Sigma 70-210 APO f4-5.6.. it seems to be comparable in terms of optics in many ways except its much lighter .. Just sold 2 super mint (like new with all inclusion) for $400 ea.
Waiting for the buyer to pick up and guess what... I earn $10 for the trouble.. (countless sms, bring it back from Sydney....) Hope those buy from me appreciate the help ok... and I hope my friend give me more if he has it. To be honest, the lens will fetch more in Sydney market, but if it is mint version and I have it.. I share it with CS member. Hart Last edited by Agetan; 22nd June 2006 at 05:43 AM. |

Minolta 70-210 f4 is a "Limited Edition" good value lens. If the price keep going up it's no longer value for money lens liao. Buy! Buy! Buy! before the SONY A100 crowds

how do you find its focusing speed, as compared to the sigma 70-200 or the KM 70-200SSM?

Parfocal lens does not change it's focus when the focal length is change (ie zoom).... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parfocal
What you need to do is zoom all the way in, focus lock and then zoom out and recompose the way you want it. This technique gives you the ability to lock focus at where you want. With the KM5D, just have to keep in mind that the exposure is lock as well during focus lock if "Matrix mode" is selected. If the exposure is wrong when zoom out, will need to use "center weighted mode" or other method to compensate for the wrong exposure.
