Bro,

You are getting better and better. The sharpness is there. The composition is there. Time to try other insects! =)

Wow. Nice series. Nice exposure. By the way did u used flash? From the EXIF viewer, it says flash did not fire, but from the pics itself I kind of feel that some amount of fill flash were being used. Good control of flash if you do used one. If can reduce the shadow further would be better.

Ah...nice green background seems like some dust in the sensor appears like black speck over it. Time to send for cleaning.

way to go, colours and sharpness are much better
nice creamy bg as well

but if the shadows were from a flash, you can try to diffuse it more.

i indeed used flash, i suspect your EXIF viewer was not able to capture the correct data maybe because i'm using a 1-pin manual hot shoe flash

anyway, using a hotshoe flash, how to further reduce the shadow? any tips?
this always my concern ...

This is my concern too. I am thinking of getting a remote cord so that I can use off-camera flash in my setup. Hopefully I can position my flash to get better flash control.

Try off camera shoes cord to position your flash. Alternatively, use a slave flash. This may help too.

This issue has also been bugging me.

Some say shadow necessary so that can have 3D effect. Some say should not have shadows, while some say, shadows ok but not too harsh.

So a diffuser or bounce card will definitely reduce the flash harshness, but will still cast some shadows. To minimise, make the light source large and near the subject so it comes from a wide area rather than a single source point. Thats why some pp get those flash brackets that mount the flash near the lens with a diffuser.

I am using slave flash for the A610 and wired off shoe flash for the Fz10. Sometimes, can eliminate shadows sometimes cannot.....still figuring out....as my flash have no fix position.
