Hi Zaknafein!

This is a very interesting shot of a word, and could do well in a stock photography archive. I'm just wondering whether the halos around the text is an intentional overshapening or not? It seems rather overdone to me, is it possible to tone it down and increase the contrast (to improve accutance) instead?

thanks for all the comments and replies!

PointBlue: yes it was intentional. As i feel that the depth of field is not shallow enough to bring out the "melancholy" word. The over-sharpening also gives the "grainy" effect which i feel its suitable for this picture.

u suggested that i should tone down the oversharpening and increase the contrast. what effect are u trying to bring out? sorry my eng not really good so i dun understand what u meant by "improving accutance".

over-sharpening can cause halo-looking effect around the edge of some words.

he means you can choose to use less sharpening, so as to prevent the halo effect.

and if you want to improve the contrast on the edge, you can do so by increasing contrast.

the idea is great, and melancholy is great with B/W.
just that the over-sharpening is an issue.
