Hi,
Anyone ever used the macro function for the sigma 17-70 lenas? Is it good, as in can it really be used for extreme macro shots like those I see here? And, this may sound stupid, haha, but how do I use the macro function? Do i just make it go to 17mm and then use manual to focus? Please help. Regards, |

hmmm ... if I'm not mistaken, this lens may be used for interior photography. Like commercial photo of the vehicle's interior, room and stuffs like that, where space is restricted and you need to take a wider angle with very short minimum focusing distance.
Insects, flora and other macro photography uses tele-lens with at least 90mm (as far as i know). Please correct me if I'm wrong. I don't wanna mislead others. ![]() |

use 70 mm and go as near as you can
the lens can auto focus even when the subject is just 5cm from the UV filter. but the magnification is not as great as those macro lenses in this box. |

It's supposed to be able to do 1:2.3 throughout the zoom range. So 17mm giving 1:2.3 mag should be cool as ortega has mentioned. Im interested to see it also.

WA lenses always have limited minimum focusing distant but the magnification ratio is not there thus it cannot be considered as a "macro" lens but you can focus at a pretty near to your subject.
My 17-40mm lens can also has a very short minimum focusing distant... ![]() |
