Default Command dial problems???

i jus got a new 602 from AP. While fiddling ard with it, i kinda realised that the command dial didnt seem to respond well, as in as i rotate it, the various functions/modes for flash/shutter/whatever that utilises this dial doesnt seem to change to what i want easily... is it a fault with this camera or is it an inherent problem???

describe what you actually did. e.g. switch to "A" mode, rotating the command dial doesn't change the aperture settings.

say under auto... when trying to select the various flash modes... rotating the dial one click doesnt shift the mode from say auto flash to red eye... only after i rapidly spin the dial then it may switch...sometimes it doesnt respond that well... sometimes rotating it rapidly will jump to maybe slowed flash or red eye... the same dial problems apply to any other modes

For mine, let's say in AP mode, if you rotate once, the apperture will change. Rotating *too* rapidly missed some of the rotations (apperture changes less than rotations). As long as don't turn too fast ok for me.

If your camera doesn't even respond to 1 single rotation, then something must be wrong with the camera.

You must be unlucky to have gotten the set. I went to buy with my friends for a few times and I helped them inspect for dead pixels, unusual stuffs like ur dial problem, or things like torn straps etc. I request that they be changed, and they do. They just throw the problematic items back into another box, back into the pile of cameras waiting for another unsuspecting buyer to bring it home.

new 602 user here too! and i have a question regarding the command dial...

when i shift the dial just by a little bit... is the shutter speed suppose to change from 60 to 100 or gradually 60 70 80 90 100?

Default command dial sensitivity

the command dial is supposed to move 1 stop per notch on the dial, or at least, incrementally, i.e. 60- 70-80 etc and not from 60 -100 in one jump. perhaps you could het it checked..

i don't think there's in between shutter speed. 60 to 100 sounds right.

right on, the shutter speed is from 60-8--100. so i guess one should not be missing the 80. anyway, it is supposed to be 1 stop per notch.

S602 uses 1/3EV compensation steps. Therefore, every click of the dial changes exposure by 1/3 stop.

For e.g., 1/50s and 1/100s has a 1 stop exposure difference, the intermediate steps for exposure would be:

1/100s - reference
1/80s - +1/3EV
1/60s - +2/3EV
1/50s - +1EV

Every click changes exposure by +/- 1/3 of a stop.

Go to SP mode and see if you get the above shutter speeds I mentioned above when you turn the dial.
