What setting should we use for fireworks lets say for a 100mm shot with f/4.5

    Tripod!!!
WA Lens (100mm is too long i think)
Shutter - 1second-10seconds depending on what u want to do (just a guide)
Aperture - f/8-16 ish (To help maintain a trail on the fireworks)
No flash, it will not be able to reach unless ur very very close

    Wow ok thanks.

Then whats the best spot to take NDP fireworks? I have thought of several places including:
Kallang ParK Beach, Benjamin Shears Bridge and Marina Bay. Whats your take on this?

    The black card works wonders...
You can save many shots with proper use especially if theres a bright building infront of you

In fact, u should use a wide lens, the wider the better. Aperture wise should be smaller at around f/8 - f/16 and shutter speed can be between 2 - 15 secs, depending on ISO and aperture.

Flash???? No one takes fireworks with flash, not even night sceneries. Unless yr flash has the power of a spotlight.

100mm also can take wat... individual burst loh.

then PS to mix and match

Normally use iso100 @ f8 to f21 use aperture to control how broad you wan the streaks to be.

But do note that there are some burst that are extreme... like golden shower and where you need to up the ISO or use wider aperture. On the other end, there's the "everything-at-one-go" mass orgy... that one sure over

    Hi panzerpunk,

    Hope you find this useful

By the way , taken firework are actually capture of lights trails thus flash is not needed but it is useful if you want to include some frontground subject near you (Eg : people)

When it starts to fire. Gd fireworks pics should include both trails and bursts. That's y u'll need a longer exposure to capture both.

Infinity focus works for me...or at least make sure that your background (buildings, national stadium, etc) is sharp. A cable/bulb release is recommended.... the act of pressing a shutter induces some vibration also.
