This is a request for the moderators to fix up a sticky thread regarding the usage of polarisers in the 'Newbies Corner' and/or 'General, Reviews, Tech Talk'.
A new thread pops up every so often requesting information on polarisers when everything has already been explained weeks/months ago. I don't want to sound like a broken record "if they'll only bother to do a search", but it's true they won't bother to do a thorough search. Well then just make it easier for these people by putting a sticky up and hopefully they don't miss seeing that! Rather than having members write in new posts on polarisers I've done a little searching and came up with useful past threads. Anyone feel free to include. - polariser making images blurry - Need help on circular polarizer - Help On Circular & Linear Polarizer Some of the posts are in reply hence if to sticky the original thread my concern is that it may be too long for people to read and concentrate. It's hard to choose good individual posts. On the other hand if that's too much spoonfeeding then heck it. I do acknowledge that those people who ask, have different cameras from the posts but they should realise and understand the mechanics are the same. And do not be afraid to bump up old threads with your own questions. Personally I would rather see an old thread up with new questions than a new thread with old questions. When someone does bother to do some homework the rest of us will be more willing to offer help. Those who have questions over pricing. Filter Price List Thanks. |

Its probably easier to create one sticky that is titled "General Photography Tips and Tricks" and then lump in all the topics in there. If we have a sticky thread for each and every part or operation of equipment in photography, there would 100s of stickies.

Well okay, do what you feel is best.
But I'd prefer a more forceful title, eg. - "Photography ABCs, What You Should Know So You Can Teach Your Kids", - "You Don't Know How It Works But We Do; Read It Here and No Where Else", - "Essential Photography Knowledge, Enough To Smoke Your Friends/Family/Spouse", - "Old Answers To Old Questions!", - "Searching Is So Last Century! Click Here!!!", - "How to Win A Million Dollars", - "Sit Back, Relax, We've Done Everything For You! Your Prints Will Be Ready In An Hour!", - "I am Cynical And You are Lazy", or - "If You Love Asking Questions More Than Searching For Answers Then This FAQ is Not For You!" |
