Cool Waterproof casing, can use three layers of plastic bag?

Three layers of transparent plastic bag, each layer is sealed tightly individually, and use
vaccume to suck out the air to make the bag fit closely on camera. As a result, user
can have full control of the camera and even if one layer leaks, there are three layers
of protection.

However, plastic bags can be easily punctured, all 3 layers could go at once, a hard case is much harder to crack and puncture, i would not use that method with any piece of equipment that costs any money, maybe an old p&s. Also, remember that the bags will not be able to take pressure, so diving is a huge no no with it just in case anyone gets that idea

oh i see, since I never dive before wasnt sure about the pressure issue. maybe hardcasing
is the solution.

Hi,

This might work in heavy rain. But if you are intending to shoot underwater, the plastic bags won't hold coz of the water pressure, even if it's swimming pool depth. You might want to consider the cheapest underwater casing (about 500+ and made from industrial strength soft plastic), it's is sold at FEG. Can't remember the brand though.

Also remember that underwater casings have a lens port that is made of clear pastic, the plastic bags will obstruct your lens.

Best
Wesley

How about the front of the lens? Plastic (especially 3 layers) will degrade the photo.

Use an earlier sugegstion in an earlier thread, u cut a whole in the bag and screw uv filter on outside or something, it sounded like a rather clever idea, cant remember exactly how it worked.

As a diver, i would say that the bags shouldnt go below 1 meter, it would just be way too risky

A very nice solution for shooting in the rain though.

Also, to add on from my previous post, a hard casing will protect the camera from the pressure of deeper water, a plastic bag will not, so even if it does not fail, the camera might

Yes, good idea. but, without lens hood, your filter easily become soft filter

Haha, Gd point

Maybe a nice plastic hood to attach to the plastic bag?
