buying the hoya +4 gives u slightly worse quality at the sides and a free holiday to genting or penang...

Then how abt Canon 250D/500D ??

Because I see a person using Canon 250D + Hoya closeup filter (+4) .. to take marco photo. And the photo is nice & clear except for the background (maybe the apertus) ...

But if I use only the Canon 250D/500D without the Hoya closeup filter (+4) .. what will be the difference(s) ??

    Thanks !!

    Hi panda22,

Beside the price and diopter strength difference, Hoya +4 is single element (meaning it has only 1 piece of glass) while the 250D/500D are multi-elements (and they are called close-up lens). Multi-elements close-up lenses will correct the CA and hence giving better optical quality. Some close-up lenses like the Nikon 5T/6T are specifically designed to be used on long lenses (eg. the 80-200 zoom lens) for optimal performance. Hoya +4 is designed for 50mm lens and is not as good when you use it at longer focal length.

    Hope that helps.

I have the +4... at 300mm it's sucky unless u stop down like crazy...
at 200++ I use f22 to f45 to kill the CA, but distortionmight be visible

Depends on thread size of your lens.
