I've been using Lexar Pro 80x 2GB CF with my KM 5D since I got it fr March's IT Show... Other than a noticeable shorter batt life (if I leave both CF / batt in the cam when not using), no issues so far... *touch wood*

Dun try Kingston Elite Pro... very slow... I am stuck with 2 pieces... seems to have a tendency to hang my 7D every now and then (quite infrequent but occurs when u least expect it)... one of the cards has been sent back to Taiwan for data recovery...
BTW, how much is the Lexar 80x 2GB CF cards? Not the pro version... thanks! |

avoid "kingston elite pro" series, period. i've a 2gb and 2x 1gb and they are slow on my 5D. the "normal" 1024Mb kingston CF (orange band) works much faster.

Actually there is a CF card writing speed database in dyxum.com
Kingston are mostly at the bottom. I usually read this before I buy any CF cards ![]()

Just get either Sandisk Ultra II or Lexar Pro 80x, they are pretty good.. though I would be worry about to use bigger than 2GB.
I use 1Gb and 2Gb CF mainly, haven't got any problem **touch wood** and price pretty resonable too... Sandisk Ultra II 2Gb is about A$80... I think it is much cheaper than 4gb version or the extreme III. Price and performance wise, I think Ultra II is excellent.. Oh, sorry, just use those on 7D, which they are about the same speed with Ultra II have slight better speed, though not by much. Regards, Hart |

Will be shopping around for the Leaxars.... actually I just came back this evening from a trip to M'sia... been using the Kingston Elite Pro 2GB... not too bad if u are not impatient... but on a trip where u have to shoot a lot and fast, then it's quite annoying... and when u stress the card, that's where the probability of hanging increases dramatically I feel.. that's my experience actually... for this M'sia trip, it's a holiday so no continuous shooting till buffer jams...
Anyway did a simple test using a stopwatch... shot 3 frames (X. Fine JPEG, ISO 200, A priority, f/16, centre-weighted metering, no flash, release priority, AWB) from my bedroom window comparing the 1GB Lexar 80x and 2GB Kingston Elite Pro... measured from the time I depressed the shutter till the time the red light goes off. Lexar - 4 sec; Kingston - 20 sec... u decide... ![]() |
