Thanks for sharing the 'monkey in chain' pic...
Its a powerful reminder of how selfish the human race is - deriving entertainment from the suffering of other creatures that have the same rights to survive freely in this shared planet. The pics are beautifully exposed and very sharp, there is blue/magenta tint though... ![]() |

Reminds me of the monkeys I saw at Koh Samui, they were trained to pick coconuts from the trees too. However, they were not chained/roped, agile and young monkeys.
The monkey you took definately triggers a string in my heart... ![]() |

Nice set of images... the 50-200 rules!
Quite heartwarming to read the comments about the monkey, but if you notice and think about it, there was no chain, only a leash was used. A monkey has enough strength (if you have ever kept or cared for monkeys) that the leash is no deterrent to stop the monkey from running. Looking at the species of the monkey, it looks like a regular "plucker", so the leash might be one of training use. Also, the leash serves as a deterrent for the monkey to pester people for food (they are smart, and they also understand the saying, "Work Smart, Don't Work Hard"). Look at the fur quality of the monkey, I don't see it anywhere pathetic at all. There are millions out there in worse condition... more likely its "sian" because of inactivity or someone near the photographer was eating (and not offering to share the food) when the shot was taken (maybe). The condition of the primate is in excellent condition. Last edited by plastic; 12th June 2006 at 10:54 AM. |
