Consider myself lucky to spot it in Singapore mainland.
according to the website, it is rare resident on the main island, uncommon resident in offshore islands. |

Thank you, Mervin
refer to the link again, "In the 1980's, C J Hails initiated a reintroduction programme of the birds to protected areas. This, combined with increased public awareness of the Magpie Robin's plight, resulted in a slow increase in numbers." The reintroduction programme of the birds to protected areas resulted in a slow increase in numbers started in the 1980's. By now it should become one of these common birds in Singapore already if its implementation is successful. Thank you very much for your updates. very nice shot. However, there are people traping such nice birds as they have very nice vocale and they are quite pricey.

It should be male Magpie Robin according to the following description. Male: Black head, breast and upperparts; underparts white; tail black with white outer feathers; bold white wingbars. Last edited by hhho; 4th June 2006 at 01:11 PM. |

Is this a common bird in Singapore? I don't think so. Other than Botanic Garden I hardly see it in other parks in Singapore.
Remember the last time I went to my wife's home town in Sarawak. This is the bird that wake me up every morning. How I wish this bird can wake me up in Singapore. ![]() |
