Geez... so much for lower crime rate. The robberies and murder rates have dropped but looks like the petty crimes as such are still high. Unbelievable!

Thank you for all the comments. I know it is useless having heartache and nothing I can do about it to make it better. Just wondering if there is a serial 'scratcher' on prowl and I should report it to authority.

BTW I parked at the multi-storey carpark opp the temp Thiong Bahru Hawker Centre (blk 8C). And FYI, the hawkers have moved back to the new building at the original location.

I was just there for dinner and it is one of those day I am just 'suay'. Therefore I can't put camera at the carpark but maybe I can put a camera in my car?

Vandalism on car is a crime, remember Michael Fay? But have to catch and prove the crime first.

Maybe you should take a picture and post here for better advices ....

    what car were you driving?
Police report no use, but will give them info on the location so they might look out for a pattern.
Insurance won't cover. The only thing is to repaint.
A Hyundai Matrix, thought the scratcher will go for better cars.
    Thanks for the advice.

i learnt this phrase from a car forum & a believer in it.
"what is inside the car belongs to you, what is outside the car is public property"
that is y i dun even bother polishing my car.
no point, see dents, scratch, heart pain.
True. Still have to cover up the scratch in case rust start to set in then have to change door liao.

Remembered once my friend and I went for a fishing session at Bedok jetty. After we are done and went back to his 8 mths old car, It seems that Zorro had came and visited his car and left behind a signature "Z". . He has no choice but to get it repainted. Lucklily it wasn't a F**K instead.

haha what to do.... but its not considered as petty crime... its just some joker who couldnt be bothered to throw his stuff down a dustbin.... My gf who is aussie used to wonder why I would pull her away from walking under HDB windows especially those in the kitchen.... until one day she was amazed to see first a chicken bone then another and finally enough to make one chicken land on the same spot... yeah some one was eating chicken by the window and taking the window as the dustbin.....

Scratches... everyone gets them... even me... yeah back to my estate (in case you guys wondering which estate so terror, its bukit purmei) There was a period of time there was someone going around scratching all new cars at the carpark... yeah ALL NEW CARS... next day when we all went to work... can see the hell that breaks loose when all owners find their new paint work heavily decorated...... Culprit never caught by the way.....

Do get it repainted if the scratches are deep though.... can rust easily

Install mini CCTV in your new car since you have already spend so much on new car.
Repaint and repaint again can buy one new D200 liao.

Brother - that mean's you parked at the Kim Tian Road MSCP.
This one popular one, always got car break in and a lot of vandalism cases.
I always try to park roadside not at MSCP. The higher level you park, the higher the risk.
Anyway, always try to blend in with the cars in a car park, make sure your drive does not stand out.

if you have CCTV and capture the acts if you report to police then police will have to do something about it.

Remember the white elephant. Also the american boy now should be adult liao spray on some big guy car and the police act so fast.

Don't put in the car. Your windows might get broken and camera get stolen unless it's a really cheap cam.

Ya, it is at KimTian Road MSCP. Didn't know about its reputation last time. Now I know. Will not go there next time. My car is already very normal. 3 year old blue Hyundai Matrix parked at level 2 only and all other lots were full. So I also don't know how the culprit select his victim.
Oh also quite recently my cars key hole also got damaged and all 3 of them. Now can only use remote to open and close door. the driver side is the worst damages and really left a hole. Looks like someone is practicing lock picking skill with a screw driver and failed miserably.

They purposely make spoil the key hole so that cannot open your car with key. Maybe next time they may flatten the tyres or break the side mirror....sort of funny way.

These people might have mental problem. They feel great after vandalism those car or public property.

If your area got such people then too bad lor.... better install CCTV in your car otherwise never end.
