Thread: D60 v S2 observations

    Default D60 v S2 observations

    These are my personal observations:

    1. D60 cannot change ISO while buffer is clearing! S2 can. D60 takes rather long to clear buffer consider its file size is half that of S2.

    2. D60 viewfinder a bit bigger than S2, makes MF a bit easier

    3. IS is great fun. When Nikon releases 70-200 VR, run, don't walk to buy it. I have a more than 50% chance of sharp pic with 1/125 at effective focal length of 672mm.

    4. Canon flash system seems as good as the nikon one.

    5. D60 AF speed is a bit slower, (i always use central focusing point), maybe because IS is engaged? (refers to lower light situation, not super bright light 1/1000 shooting birds in flight situation - not tested yet )

    6. Image quality of both are great. at iso 100/200 nothing to much to differentiate. At iso 400 S2 has slightly less noise (flame-proof suit on) when the 12Mp is downsized to 6Mp

    7. I like the D60's 1/200 standard sync speed and the option to go even faster.

    Did you compare:
EF300 f4L IS and AFS 300 f4 (Are you sure AFS faster than USM in this focal range??)
    or
EF 300f4L IS amd Nikkor AF 300f4D?
The later comparison is clearly Canon AF speed will beat the crap out of Nikkor.
EF 300f4L IS focusing was very fast, I often use this lens on mode 2 for panning shoots.

will edit my post to refer to lower light situation. i haven't tried it on birds in flight yet. lower light, i think AF speed is not so much USM speed but the AF modules sensitivity?

    the comparison is 300f/4L vs 300f/4 AF-S
