Default Bat near my house

Hi,

Let me share this bat near my house.







Taken using D70s with 60mm f/2.8 afd micro lens and SB800. flash at M/4. ASA1000, f/16, 1/250s. Handheld, cropping, lucky shoot.

lol u must be very persistent! I tried it before... took ten failed shots and gave up.. well it was film then so haha.. I am curious abt the species tho..

That's the wonderful world of DSLR. You can take many photos as you want. Preview and delete those fail one. Learn from shoot to shoot. Do experiment without need to spend money to process the film.

My next project on bat is to get bat photo withour red eye .

This species is a small one. Eat fruits. In Indonesia we call it 'Kalong'. Bat we call it 'Kelelawar'. Kelelawar is 3 to 5 times Kalong size. I hear some species of bat eat/drink blood from animal (but never hear human). IMHO, that's the idea of Dracula story come from.

Yeah, vampire bats, they actually lap up the blood from cows, sheep after making a puncture. There are a bunch of insectivorous bats that normally fly around a lampost outside my room, have been trying to get them in action for quite a while. Nice capture!

You might want to convert to B&W and if possible reduce the glare from the eye, and crop a bit closer. Will look great.

If you can get those bat in action when trying to catch the insect, that will be .

Thanks for suggestions. But I prefer Colour one . Maybe I can try off camera flash next time for reduce red-eye. Crop a bit closer . That's crop a lot already....
