dont bother, no point selling the lens and the hood separately. IIRC the hood itself can take a lens cap

Yeah, I see the picture on the net. This 67mm screw in type metal lens hood take 77mm lens cap. Is there any screw threat at the end for 77mm? Or just plain metal at the end?

you can try but I got no idea how that will affect your performance, rather, I dun even know if the threads with take the CPOL2 in the first place. the new lens cap will fit on the hood, that is all I know.

I have the HN-23 hood.

Yes, a 77mm center pinch lens cap fits the hood.
No, it has threads inside of the hood, but it's threads (Not those spiral patterns for filter threads) doesn't allow for a CPL or a filter to screw in. Tried it with a 77mm CPL II and NC filters.

Hope these clears up a few doubts!
