Actually do u really need to have physical 3D images to be able to simulate ur sense of touch, feel, taste, smell and thoughts?

If a 'flat 2D image' is powerful enough to invoke one's 5 senses, ain't it good enuff? Don't belittle the power of human mind.

If U re-read the sententence, I'm sorta agreeing with you... I didnt belittle the power of the mind, rather, I think the mind is able to create such things. 2D images can only go so far... and yet there are good & bad things about 2D vs 3D.

imagine going thru the iraq invasion thru 3D images/feelings as opposed to 2D images. Would the feeling be the same? Or watching pornography thru 2D instead of 3D. Would the feeling be the same?

no offense but feel this metaphor is way too general & doesnt debate on the topic... because the topic is about the pen/tool/camera becoming non-existent. One's thoughts could be extracted digitally since brain waves are basically electrical impulses...

Via 3D Holographic Image Projection I suppose?

Well, the feeling is different. But knowing that the images we are seeing is a holographic projection, even with 7.1 Dolby Surround in a THX certified home theater, the brain tells us unconsciously that the image we are seeing is fake. It still boils down to the fact where at the end of the day, we will still experience the same things as what we see with a regular 2D photo running on a slideshow with the same surround sound.

But if u are involved, took part and joined the troops in the Iraq Invasion from Day 1 right to the end. The feeling will differ vastly unlike that of seeing images, 2D or 3D.

Current image reproduction tools restrict us to reproducing 2D images. Whilst technology will advance ultimately in the future to 3D Image Reproduction, shldn't we just concentrate on what's available now to the best of our ability?

100 years from now everybody can take photographs easily - agree.
100 years from now everybody can take GOOD photographs - disagree.

photography as an art form is a way of seeing. different people have different way.

100 years from now, someone will put feet and a smarter brains onto the camera and there won't even be a need for photographers. Brainless photographic drone planes and volcano explorer already do that.

Having said this, it now comes down to art and documentation. With all these technology, people still paint pictures on canvas. So 100 years from now, people will still take photo artistically. And as proven by <insert country> idol, some just can't cut it no matter how delusionally confident they are. 100 years is a nong nong time away.

if there is no tool involved or the tool effectively ergonomically is able to take what U see, then isnt this contradicting? Because good & bad photographs are indistinguishable or merely "different". like dawgbyte said, camers will have smarter brains, the skill required for focusing is diminishing. There's already a prototype semi-liquid/solid lens that works like an eye ball.

isn't it obvious? Dont disagree with you because the present will be history in the future, but its our present imagination that propels us to new things in the future...

    Look at my sig..

Everybody has a different point of view on things, and no matter how advanced photography is, it can never be comparable. It is what the user sees.

Anyways, few centuries back, painting was the only way of documentation, and while documentation has evolved into photography, what has become of paint? It becomes intuitive art. And when 3D graphics takes over photography, we all know whats going to happen to the latter.
