Granted, the fastest FX62s will blow everything mac has in the performance department, but the thing about mac is that while they do the same stuff as a PC, you enjoy the process a lot more. You can't show that in benchmarks.

It is not a stupid question. The reason is because Apple put the TPM (Trusted Platform Module) chip inside the hardware on the motherboard and if the machine doesn't have this chip, MacOS won't start. They purposely lock you onto their hardware; you pay the premium for it.

Get both. Mac is'nt a replacement for the PC and vice versa.

I would say a Mac is a good add-on to a PC though.

Yes and no.. If you have the right hardware, you can run Mac OS X on an Intel platform albeit illegally in more ways than one. It's been done.

    I agree with you
If you look at where Apple is going, it difficult to compete with Linux and other up and coming open source OS. It make no sense for Apple to develop an OS only for MAC. Hence, I believe if you get a PC with a dual core processor and a good graphic card, it would be cheaper as PC parts is easier to upgrade. If you like the MAC OS interface, you can try load MAC OS on the PC since now MAC OS support Intel processor.Performance wise I don't think there is much difference as PC platform is moving at a much faster pace than MAC (look at AMD & Intel pipeline).

Of course, if you prefer MAC cool look, then MAC is the choice

Yes, it's possible, but only with the right hardwares. It's far from being a straight forward task. And I gave up after finding out it wasn't possible to set my monitor above 60Hz at that time.

I sell Mac computer and just to cool things off
U cannot run Mac OS on just any dual core processor like those on PC
The Duo Core on Mac is solely on partnership with Apple
As for speed, being a Mac user for the last odd 20 yrs, I can safely say my Quad-Core G5 will blow any PC out on the market
As for those who intent to seek out cheaper Macbook Pro, those that are on sale are the older 1.83 which was overstocked by dealers
But it from outside Apple Resellers and u end up with problems later on
I have used the Duo Core and running windows xp is faster than a normal 2.4Pentium running windows
Hope that clear the myth of Apple and Windows
Ideally run Linux on a Mac and u have the best of both world
    Cheers
