In full camouflage uniform, even my long telezoom is gaffered in temasek green color, and get ready for target acquisition. Intelligence gave us the info the birds will fly past at about 1600 hrs, somewhere in the Mandai forest, flight path given in GPS.
Got my gear set to AF-C, centre weighted metering, ISO200, WB cloudy and test focusing a little to make sure I dun miss the target. Sharp shooter on the ready, index finger on the trigger, prepare in position, adopt correct holding, aiming and firing technique. Birds arrived just a few minutes later, I triggered off like a GPMG. This is what I got. I haven't attended the Birdie Recognition Course yet leh. Please help me to identify. ![]() Note: As this is a classified reconnaissance photo, no downloading allowed (refer to the OSA) ![]()

theres this story, dun know whether urban legend or not, that this scottish policeman once tracked a panavia tornado as it was taking off with his laser at an airbase in scotland... as it was a high alert period, the pilot thought he was being tracked by a SAM and asked for permission to go weapons free... only realised at the last minute that it was a policeman.
be funny (or not as the case may be) if you were picked up by the longbow and the pilot mistook ur big lens for some kinda laser rangefinding device... |

And somemore, all my glass are supermulti-coated, so can hardly see the glass at all - only can see the aperture blades, all 9 of them if you peer into my big barrel "phallic-symbol" Fatma lens. ![]()

heh, think their fatma lens beats urs...
"The Apache has state of the art optics that provide the capability to select from three different target acquisition sensors. These sensors are * Day TV. Views images during day and low light levels, black and white. * TADS FLIR. Views thermal images, real world and magnified, during day, night and adverse weather. * DVO. Views real world, full color, and magnified images during daylight and dusk conditions. > The AN/APG-78 FCR is a multi-mode Millimeter Wave (MMW) sensor integrated on the Apache Longbow with the antenna and transmitter located above the aircraft main rotor head. It enhances Longbow system capabilities by providing rapid automatic detection, classification, and prioritization of multiple ground and air targets. The radar provides this capability in adverse weather and under battlefield obscurants. The FCR has four modes: (1) the Air Targeting Mode (ATM) which detects, classifies, and prioritizes fixed and rotary wing threats; (2) the Ground Targeting Mode (GTM) which detects, classifies, and prioritizes ground and air targets; (3) the Terrain Profiling Mode (TPM) which provides obstacle detection and adverse weather pilotage aids to the Longbow crew; (4) and the Built in Test (BIT) Mode which monitors radar performance in flight and isolates electronic failures before and during maintenance. The addition of the Longbow FCR provides a second and completely independent target acquisition sensor which may be operated by either crew member or combined to provide a degree of multi-sensor synergy. When operated independently, the pilot could use the FCR to search for air targets in the ATM mode while the copilot/gunner (CPG) searches for ground targets using the Target Acquisition Designation Sight (TADS). Using both TADS and the FCR together combines the unique advantage of each sight. The rapid search, detection, classification, and prioritization of targets by the Longbow FCR can then be quickly and positively identified by using the electro-optics of TADS. The center of view can be focused on the location of the highest priority target and the CPG, at the touch of a switch, can view either display. Alternately, the FCR centerline can be cued to the TADS so that a rapid and narrow search could be made of a suspected target area. The tests clearly demonstrated that Longbow Apaches: # Easily can hit moving and stationary tanks on an obscured, dirty battlefield from a range of more than 7 kilometers, when optical systems are rendered ineffective. # Can use either its Target Acquisition Designation Sight or fire control radar as a targeting sight, offering increased battlefield flexibility. # Have the ability to initiate the radar scan, detect and classify more than 128 targets, prioritize the 16 most dangerous targets, transmit the information to other aircraft, and initiate a precision attack -- all in 30 seconds or less." |

My classified info is just pure fiction, just like the Da Vinci Code, just play-play for fun la. If you are able to decode the GPS from the EXIF, you know my op location was at one of the Southern islands, accessible only by authorised personnel.
Well, your info belongs to a different class of highly classified info. You should have coded it so that only authorised personnel with the relevant clearance could read it. Do not forget the OSA. Just a friendly reminder. ![]()

Mobile Armour column and great participation of impressive airpower are usually shown 5 years once. E.g. 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015 and goes on.

Just in case anyone believe that this is genuine espionage
, I think I better come clean and tell how I got that pix. I was having a relaxing afternoon by the beach with my GF. It was a Tuesday afternoon at the Siloso beach at Sentosa. We were frolicking under some coconut palms when I heard the chopping noise coming near. Instinctively, I pulled out my camera from my crumpler bag, switch on and turned the dial to P and got ready to shoot. That is what I got here. And I got quite a few good pictures of my GF too after the chopper shoot. So, this Apache shot is entirely fortuitious. I had an enjoyable afternoon by the beach and this chopper shot is just a bonus... ![]()

Welcome to the world of espionage.
If you got someone who tells you he's a spy, 99% sure he is a faux spy. A genuine spy is very, very discrete about it, and not even his wife might know what he is doing. There are more spys in the movies than in real life. I happen to like such movies and read such books. ![]()
