Hi all,
This is my first post here. Pardon me for my newbie qns. I bought my KM5D last dec and has been shooting with my kit lense for awhile. Would like to get new lense (probably a 50mm f1.7 or f1.4) and a flash. Cathay still have the f1.4 but f1.7 almost cannot be found in SG. So, should i wait till Sony roll out its alpha lense or grap watever is left by KM in the market? ![]() |

Since Sony pledged support for Minolta A-Mount, it doesn't make half an ounce of business sense to redesign a new DSLR from scratch with new mountings and new flash hotshoe in a vain attempt to recapture the market from scratch.
It would be more economical building on the current base of users rather den to risk incurring their wrath by abandoning support altogether.

I am personally looking to see what Sony will announce before making any move. There are also some 3rd parties, eg, Sigma, Tamron for lenses and others for flash which I hope will offer their Minolta mount stuffs in volume again.

Seems that there's some demand for 5600HS(D)s. If end of year the holidays fall in sequence allowing me to go overseas whilst on the minimal number of days, I might just pop back to Japan again. Will start another MO thread and see what I can sweep from the shops this time round.

Minolta had been cleared off the shelves off Sakuraya, Yodobashi as well as other big camera/electronics superstores in anticipation of Sony's alpha. Prices are at least 10 to 20% cheaper or even more IF he can find those tax-free shops. But most smaller shops are not tax free.
