Default Eiffel Tower & Hôtel des Invalides

Eiffel Tower is the symbol of Paris; designed by Gustave Eiffel, it was erected on the occasion of the World Fair in 1889. Some characteristics : 317 m high, 7000 tons weight, four huge pillars with cement base, three floors (at 57, 115 and 276 m).

Hôtel des Invalides The huge church in the middle of the Hotel des Invalides was designed by architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart. Its top reaches an height of 107 metres. In 1989 the dome and the details at the walls were made gold again. In total over 12 kilos of gold was needed for this project. Especially when the sun shines, this dome looks absolutely gorgeous. But the most famous about the Hotel des Invalides is the tomb of Napoleon.

Default Notre Dame

Notre Dame de Paris is well-known for the Victor Hugo character, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. But it's an historical cathedral that was conceived in the 12th century by Bishop Maurice de Sully. It has been the sight of various events such as Napoleon's coronation and it even fell into disrepair until the 19th century when Viollet le Duc restored it. One of the best features of the cathedral apart from all the stained glass and artifacts inside, is the steep climb up the towers to get a spectacular view of Paris and to get upclose to your new friends the gargoyles.

Interesting shots you got there. At this moment, with so much talk about the Da Vinci Code, you shouldn't miss the Musee de Louvre where some of the things were happening in the movie.

Makes me want to get the wide zoom, like the Tokina12-24.

I like your N.Dame interiors. Think you used the wide angle to good effect, accentuating the length and scale of the cathedral.

Love the color tones as well.

Just wondering, was these done with a tripod/handheld?

actually i like your pic more.

the glass at the bottom is too near the base. but i wouldn't want to sacrifice the space above the dome area. so standing a bit further or zooming out a bit would be gd.

your angle is from ..... shooting at the level of a table??? cos the glass shouldn't be on the ground, and the level is really low.

the colored glass panel at the top is nice, should have a close up on that too.

Hi, thank for your comment and advice.

Regarding the glass, surprisingly it is on the floor. The cup is quite a big one! I'm shooting almost at knee level liao. Notre Dame is famous for its stained glass especially what they call rose glass. Will try to dig some shots to share with you all.

Regards
