Default buy now or at pc show

hi. just wondering if it's likely that at the upcoming pc show 1-4 june there will be any special offers on cams like d70s. I actually want to get one this weekend but was thinking maybe they might have a better offer at the pc show. any clues?

rumour has it the major brands are not officially represented. however, like in the last IT show in dec, players like harvey norman might set up booths selling cams of all brands.

if u're in no hurry, just wait lor? see wat freebies nikon is giving out... then go to the usual shops to buy.

Haha I don't need clues/tips/inside info. I rely on experience.

My advice? Don't bother. Head down and get it this wk end.

PC Shows are over-hyped. I'll tell u why:

1) The cameras aren't cheap. They sell you at the RRP which is a couple of hundred more than what MS or even CP sells.
2) Yes, they give you more freebies. But the freebies really suck (except the additional memory). Cheapo tripods, $5 "lens cleaning kits" etc.
3) Even accessories are more ex. Sigma was at the last show, and I don't need to tell you their prices. Do they think dSLR owners are stupid or stupid?

The only things you can consider buying at PC shows are memory cards and camera batteries. Eastgear usually has some promotion on batteries and you can save a few dollars.
Memory card prices are usually cut a little, so you can also save some cash there, depending on yr luck.

I've been to almost every other IT/PC/Hardware what-have-you tech fair at suntec expo what-have-you god-forsaken place for the past god-knows how many years. So I can't be that wrong. Good deals for dSLRs are few and far between at such events.

Oh, another thing. Don't believe a word those booth people say.

One staff at the booth of a *3rd party lens manufacturer* had the cheek to tell me "Our prices here very good! Special offer valid for these few days, so if u want decide quickly. Our stocks runnig low"

I wanted to stuff the price list into his mouth and shove it down his throat with the barrel of the 70-200 2.8 lens I just tired out.

True true... PC/IT/etc shows are not good places to buy cameras. It's too crowded, not enough personal attention, and the prices are always at RRP, and the freebies are not good enough to make up the difference. What I would do is go down to the show, look at what freebies they are giving, and then go down to my preferred shop and bargain with the owner for those freebies while giving me camera at reduced price.

Memory cards and batteries are usually cheaper at PC shows, also Epson paper and ink pack, and sometimes DVD disc and players as well.

IMHO, buy only when u really need it. if u can delay and expect lower prices (that is almost guaranteed to happen), then it is a "want" and not a "need".

bring your own CF card during PC show ; take some shoot of each brand/model for comparing (if you not decided to buy which model/brand yet)

Hehehe...

The best is when IT show, SLS and Funan is quite. Their price usually follows promotions on IT Show also .

Since its just 2 days more. Buy it then. See the price at the PC show and the freebies, then get from CP or MS, at discounted price with the same freebies which they may throw in as well.
