as stated in the canon website...
S$398! EOS 66 with 35 - 80mm zoom lens S$498! EOS 66 with 28 - 90mm zoom lens Only S$898 (U.P. S$1320) EOS 300 kit (with 28-90mm lens) plus a telephoto zoom lens (75-300mm) ok ok... i'm sure it's cheaper at AP,CP and other shops. but what do u think of the package? i'm thinking of getting the eos66 plus a telephoto lens... or is the eos300 package better?? my budget around 800-1k.. btw i'm quite new to photgraphy... so help me out. thanks |

Get the EOS300.
Although made of a plastic body and lens mount, it can hold its own against the higher end EOS3 or 30 in terms of functions and built in features. One thing i like about the EOS300 is that it comes with a DOF preview button. And it is super light ... excellent for backpacking and overseas trips when weight is a concern. Never regreted buying this cam 2 yrs back at S$650 heee ... see the price difference ? BUY BUY BUY !!! ![]() |

I was seriously considering this but it's a 3-finger camera.. the last two is no grip.. then the batt grip got no buttons.. but now, I think my SLR too heavy and I *still* use the normal button to shoot even at vert position.. sigh... LOL

EOS55 ? wah ... that is half a decade+ ago. 3 focusing points only ... compared to 7 for the EOS300.
BoXXer: if i were you, i would get the EOS300 and forget about the EOS66. (a 66 will be for sec school kids wanting a first-hand SLR for dirt cheap price. i believe that you will enjoy the features and functions of the 300.) Cheers. =) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The kit lens you have listed e.g. 28-90 and 35-80 are junk. If youre anywhere serious into photog you will find the eos-66 too limited. Better to get a used EOS-300 or better still a eos-50. Also get a decent lens like a 28-105/3.5-4.5 USM (not the new crap 28-105/4-5.6)

The EOS 300 with 28-90mm and 70-300mm costs about $680 at AP. A good starter kit in my opinion.
Else, the Dynax 5 (with 28-80mm) at $620 is good too. Functionality wise it's better than EOS 300. Used to have the promotion with the free 70-300mm too, but I don't think the promotion is still available. |

Eh..if you don't mind used stuff, can try getting a used 50 or 300 + a used 28-105 3.5-4.5. total should cost you $600+
Otherwise, gamble your luck and wait a while longer, skali Canon comes out with that no brainer deal, the EOS30/33 + 28-105 3.5-4.5 USM for $800++. Regards, JK |
