Default d60 file upload to pc questions

hey guys, u know when u use the usb cable to upload the pics to pc, kind of a hassle right. the part connecting to the camera seems so fragile im always afraid it would snap.

any other ways to transfer files faster? easier?

D60 images are big .. USB transfer is indeed kind of slow ...

alternate way is to get a fastwire CF reader ....

FYI , I m still using USB transfer

A card reader costs anything from $20+ to $100+++, depending on the interface type (USB/USB 2/Firewire) and the media formats it accepts. Anyway, it is still pretty cheap and can act as "Thumb drive"

I never worry the cable may snap when connecting the camera to computer directly. It's pretty solid... so solid that I worry people may trip the wire and drag the camera to the floor

USB 1.0 CF reader - $35
USB 2.0 CF reader - $50+

that's the cheapest one i can find in SLS

USB 2.0 card is abt $30

so unless u already have a firewire card, if not i will recommend USB 2.0 becos it is compatible with USB 1.0 and most pc will have USB port...

FYI, firewire CF reader is 2-3x more expensive than USB one

performance wise...i only tried the USB 1.0 version, so i am not sure if USB 2.0 or firewire one is faster

ya.. get a USB card reader.. walk around SLS abit, some shop selling at $28 dollars only.. make sure it can take CF type II though, juz incase you are using MicroDrive. I have never use the USB cable that came with the camera at all except to set the parameter.. the rubber cover feels like it can break anytime.

Windows XP has USB 2.0 support provided Windows Update is run. Dont think Windows 2000 has it.

Have you tried compared with USB 1.x? My USB2.0 improvement is only about 3-4 times faster. It's fast... but not that amazing... Or could it be some driver issue and slow down the transfer???

You may have reached the limit of the card's max transfer rate....

Sorry... what I was trying to say is that is it a USB 2.0 device or it is just a USB1.1 device that is compatible with USB2.0 ports. Sorry for the confusion.

Cos there are many models out there that states that it is USB2.0 COMPATIBLE (which does not mean it is a USB2.0 device), those are still USB1.1 devices.
