A card reader costs anything from $20+ to $100+++, depending on the interface type (USB/USB 2/Firewire) and the media formats it accepts. Anyway, it is still pretty cheap and can act as "Thumb drive"
I never worry the cable may snap when connecting the camera to computer directly. It's pretty solid... so solid that I worry people may trip the wire and drag the camera to the floor ![]() |

USB 1.0 CF reader - $35
USB 2.0 CF reader - $50+ that's the cheapest one i can find in SLS USB 2.0 card is abt $30 so unless u already have a firewire card, if not i will recommend USB 2.0 becos it is compatible with USB 1.0 and most pc will have USB port... FYI, firewire CF reader is 2-3x more expensive than USB one performance wise...i only tried the USB 1.0 version, so i am not sure if USB 2.0 or firewire one is faster

Windows XP has USB 2.0 support provided Windows Update is run. Dont think Windows 2000 has it.

Cos there are many models out there that states that it is USB2.0 COMPATIBLE (which does not mean it is a USB2.0 device), those are still USB1.1 devices.
