yes, a wide/ultra-wide is a must for landscape for travel. a tele lens would also be nice to capture details which are not within your reach (but it gonna be heavy if urs is a fast lens)

Just came back from there 2 weeks ago. Your best friend would be a super wide angle for all those gorgeous scenics. I bought a 12-24mm expressly for my trip, and I haven't regretted a single cent. It stays on my camera most of the time. A secondary telephoto lens is also useful for all the closeup portrait shots of lamas, native tibetans etc. I bought a 105mm with me but it didn't have enough reach for some of the shots I wanted to take, so if you have something like a 70-200, it would be good.

    Have fun!

    If you believe in L lens, then .....1) 16-35mm OR 17-40mm and 2) 70-200mm f2.8 OR f4.
Of course, the ideal cam would be the 5D ... Don't forget the CP filter.
    always the Light, .... always.

sld be good enuff. guess missing a few shot due to low light and f3.5-6.3 is better than carry a hell load of weight all around

I'll still bring my 3 lenses,
    1) 10-22mm for landscape
    2) 18-50mm f2.8 for walkabout lens and low light
    3) 70-300mm for tele, street photography

    Most importantly, have fun!

monopod can use as a hand stick to balance yourself when you go trekking in Tibet or Nepal.
