Default Supermacro

Anybody has had any success force-firing the flash on the C-7070 in supermacro mode? Read in some other forums that they managed to do it. But when i followed their instructions, nothing happened...

As far as I know, you can only fire the external flash (like FL-20) and not the internal flash in super macro mode. Maybe the guys are talking about normal macro mode where you can still use flash.

Therefore if you are into underwater photography and needs to fire the internal flash to trigger a strobe using fibre optic cable, I am afraid this cannot be achieved in super macro mode. However, if you use the oly flash with housing like FL-20 and PFL-01, you will be able to get full TTL flash in super macro mode with the C-7070.

BTW, I am using this setup.. Hope this help in answering your questions. Cheers and happy shooting while diving...

I am using C5060 and can fire the int flash to trigger any fibre-optic linked ext flash using slave setting in supermacro mode. This can only be done at A/M mode but not P/S mode. But you will not have any TTL control on the int flash firing which have a scale 1-10 power level setting. For my Inon strobe, slave strobe power of 1 is enough to trigger the ext strobe.

Procedure (with C5060): set dial to A or M mode, press MENU botton, go into "MODE MENU" (right botton), go into "camera tab" (right botton), scroll down to "flash" (multiple down botton), press right botton to select the flash mode to slave (can select slave flash power from 1-10). Hope this work for C7070 too.

Are you trying to trigger an ext strobe in supermacro mode?

Nod nod... Have seen threads on wetpixel where users of the 7070 have been able to trigger the flash in supermacro mode by following certain settings. It seems it works for some but not for others??
So wondering if any local users have had any success??
BTW: I'm trying to trigger an inon strobe in supermacro mode.

I think the 7070 is quite the same as 5060 in term of operation.
I use a Inon Z220S, trigger via fibre optic cable, and setting the flash to 'slave' will be able to operate even in SuperMacro mode. Follow the instruction and you should be able to get it.

unfortunatley it doesn't work for me... Heard from other users on wetpixel that they contacted the oly dealers in their country and were told that it was a firmware issue...
like i said, the procedures seem to work for some and not for others so am wondering if any users in singapore had any success triggering the flash in supermacro mode for the 7070... I know that the 5050 and 5060 users have no problems triggering the flash.

Guess it's double/triple stacking macro lens for me underwater then, hehe...

since you already have a inon flash, why not get another oly FL-20 + housing for full TTL capability and use it to fire the inon for fill in. Then you get the advantage of super macro as well as twin strobe.

Personally, I think the extra FL-20 with housing (probably cheaper than the inon strobe) will be a good investment for you.

This is a shot taken with C-7070 in supermacro with the FL-20

Where do you guys get the fibre optic cables from?

Are you talking about the Inon strobe? I am not sure but I think it should come with the strobe if its meant for digital cameras. As for the FL-20, the housing PFL-01 comes included with a TTL sync cable which connects the flash to the camera housing.

Hope that answer your question
