Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Macro. If I am not wrong is about $220 (new, inc. GST).

Then, a used one would be even cheaper like $150 or so, depending on condition. I know there is one Tm100-300 which is even cheaper, but may not be in production liao.

i currently own the sigma 70-300mm apo dg...very popular here..cos its a good lens for the money.

cheapest nikon prime telephoto at 300mm is the f4 af version

the range is very very wide from 85mm all the way to 1600mm.
