Dear G, I must say you're putting SJ's camera to good use. I actually like #3 a lot. As I have repeatedly told SJ, you have a good eye for photography. Do continue to develop this! Hasn't he gotten you your own DSLR yet? Pester him! Get yourself a telephoto too, it will be useful for sports. Perhaps you might like to pester him to also invest in the 70-300 Sigma he's been looking at. It's a good starting point. The action shots are not bad, not great, but ok. I can't say much because my sports shots are terrible. You might be heading somewhere though, pursue it if you like the genre.

i agree with Stoned, i feel that a great reportage and story means more than just time stopping action shot. the crowds, surrounding and atmosphere bring the story-telling to a greater extent. I find myself too superfacial most of the time, only wanting to zoom into the action...
this thread is a good learning experience for me. ![]() |

LS: hey thanks. yea from council. are you from hc too? i actually got the chance to take such shots cos being councillors we pretty much get to stand in front and lead the cheers. thus i also became a pseudo photojournalist.
i was using the Canon 350D, borrowed from my friend. not confident enough to purchase one of my own yet csisfun: its the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 SPXR DI LD. yup belongs to my friend. |

aiyarh....i hardly use 70-300mm leh. if i find more use for it in future i'll bite the bullet and get one, maybe a 70-200/4L but for now, ill stick with the tammy and try to find a 85/1.8. agree, great shots of the crowd. csis: the tamron is a solid lens and #14 was taken by the tokina 19-35mm at f/4.5 22mmLast edited by Isaiahfortythirtyone; 27th May 2006 at 10:21 PM. |
