Default charging of battery in Japan and US....

hi,

just like to enquire:

1. for charging of batteries at hotel in Japan and US, for D70 and D200 batteries, do we need a transformer? or the charger can auto detect?

2. the hotel is use 2 pin or 3 pin legs? saw at the shop got 2 and 3 pin legs adapter (not transformer)

3. anyone know if the charging of AA batteries using GP charger got transformer built inside or need to go through transformer ?

thanks

1. most chargers are autovolt selection type. tink urs shd not be an exception

2. US/Japan are using 2-parallel bladed pins. only the high-powered appliances require a third earth round pin

3. turn the back of the charger, they shd have a label that says it's input voltage that it can accept

2. It's 2 flat parallel pins.
My suggestion for adapter: just buy 2 pins, not 3 pins. Hotels normally have 2-pin points only; it's more flexible for you.

1. Most do not require as they are capable or running 110V to 230V. Its basically a Plug n Play.

2. The hotel uses 2 pin. If unsure, get a universal adapter. In this way, you do not have to worry of which plug they use. You can get it off the shelve from SLS.

3. Refer to 1.

the nikon charger is compatible worldwide, as long as you can plug it in. it'll work just fine.

take this from a travelling photographer. =)
