I will stay in July / August in Singapore and there are some questions about the Nikon D200. 1) It's possibe to select german laguage in the camera menu ? 2) there is a german part in instuction manual ? 3) where is a good and safe shop ? ( at this time the d200 is round about 600 S$ cheaper in SIN )Thanks felix |

cheapest deal in Singapore... currently, has to be in Ang Mo Kio Central, MS Colors.
u can take a MRT train and alight at Ang Mo Kio interchange. ask the ground staff at the station on how to get to Ang Mo Kio Central, which is jus across the road. otherwise, take a cab. the best price, S$2680/. with GST included. cash transaction. remember that u read it from ClubSnap. as for the language part, can't help u. owners of D200 should be able to.

Price in Singapore is cheaper than Euro, but higher than USA. Am I correct to say that? Please correct me if I am wrong.
Remember, if you buy in Singapore, 1 year local waranty (same as grey set if you intend to use it in Germany), not worldwide waranty. Lens is 1 year worldwide waranty (if I am not wrong). Regards, Arto. |

![]() 1) Yes, you can select different languages within the menu of the D200 2) Yes. 3) Go to TK Foto Technic @ Shaw Towers, Beach Road, Level 2, T: 6292-4533. Just let the salesperson know you're bringing the camera back to your country and they will help you to fill up your GST refund form. All you need to do, is just to claim back the cash at the airport will do. Cheers! |

Guten Tag Felix,
Just remember these few things before u decide to get the camera in Singapore: 1) International Warranty If you buy in Sg, the warranty on the body applies to sg only. Does it justify ur savings? 2) If you do decide to buy in SG, ensure that the shop, esp in Ang mo kio, do have the stock before you go down. It's not city centre. I had the same thinking when I was in France. I had a really really good deal but I dropped it because of the above 2 points. As for German in the D200, not a problem. You can read this and so can u read the D200 menu! Is the D200 for the world cup? hehe I hope that helps. ML |

Again, the best is to make international phone calls to the shops before you arrive in order to ensure that one of the cams is reserved for you. |

Need to consider that now Singapore $ is very strong, as compared with other currency.

Hi guys,
I'm Belgian and will be in SIN this Sunday and Monday. Just been advised last minute about the trip... airline pilot. Also interested in buying a D200 & some glass.... What do you guys think about buying it with Cathay Photo ? Any idea of the price there ? Just send them an email, but guess they're closed now till tomorrow. Also, I might have to pay with VISA card, would Cathay Photo charge me more if not paying cash? Thanks, Biggles ![]() |

Last time I asked CP, and they say they will not charge more if pay by Credit Card. Visa I think. But, better for you to ask them for sure. Regards, Arto. |

Yes, they will charge you 3% more for using your Visa Card. Ask for Kevin. Another reputable place to visit is TK Photo at Shaw Towers (which is pretty close to Peninsula Plaza where Cathay Photo is). Look for James there. |

Hi,
thanks for fast answere. One year local waranty is not fine but it will be ok. If there is somethink wrog I can send the D200 to Nikon in Germany and after that I pay for repairing. If it costs more than 600 S$, it's cheaper to go back to SIN and use waranty At this time nikon takes more money for D200 at Germany. Now the price is 1850 € ( 3700 S$) before it was 1699 € ( 3400 S$ ) crazy. Maybe people like to buy it before worldcup 2006 best regards from germany felix |

Is the D200 generally speaking, still in stock in Singapore....?
It's on backorder in a lot of places in the US and as well in Dubai (where I live). Thanks for further comments. Biggles |

Cathay should be a safe place to buy...last time I paid by visa didn't have to pay extra...but note that Cathay at Peninsular Plaza not open on Sundays, only the one at Marina...
shops in the area town that should be safe for non-locals to buy from: CP - Cathay Photo, #01-11/14 Peninsula Plaza, Tel: 6337 4274, #02-215/216 Marina Square, Tel: 6339 6188, e-mail: email@cathayphoto.com.sg John - John 3:16, #03-37 Funan Digitalife Mall, Tel: 6337 2877 / 6337 1897, e-mail: richardgan@pacific.net.sg (have they shifted to 5th floor yet?) Lord's - Lord's Camera, 304 Orchard Road #01-79 Lucky Plaza, Tel: 6235 4605, e-mail: lordscom@singnet.com.sg TK - T K Foto Technic, 100 Beach Rd, #02-45 Shaw Towers, Tel: 6292 4533, e-mail: sales@tkfoto.com.sg My experience with Lord's and John 3:16 is that they will charge you the extra 3% for credit card...donno about TK's credit policy, never tried buying with credit card there...great service so far from all these shops...and I believe there should be stocks of D200 around ![]() |
