For an Olympus C750 (4MP), it has a 10X optical and 4X digital. After taking a pic, will I degrade the image quality if I view it (on the camera LCD) using the digital. I know that it I use photo editing software and I keep re-saving the image, it will degrade the image quality.
If there's degradation, will it be noticeable ? |

Don't quite understand your question... But if you are just viewing pictures taken on your cam the quality stays as it is taken, i.e. viewing the picture won't cause any loss of data (if that's what you are asking about). The optical and digital zoom you are refering to only affect the quality of picture during the time it is taken. Digital zoom works based on extrapolation ("guessing" in ordinary terms) of data from the maximum zoom obtained using optical, thus the degraded quality of picture taken.
One advice, only do RESIZING of your image once all other editing is done cuz multiple resizing will cause further data loss and degradation of picture quality. Hope this is of help to clear some of your doubts. ![]() |

Moriahphotos - thank you for your reply. I'll try to rephrase it.
After taking a shot, I can view the image on the LCD and zoom in and out on various parts of the image. Will this zooming degrade the image quality if I do it a lot ? It seems like the camera is doing resizing of some kind when it is zooming in. |
