Hey, looking for some advice on this lens, how does it compare to the tokina 12-24 or even the nikon 12-24.
Built well? performance? would be used as a landscape lens on the d70s and of course will be going to try it this weekend to see how it handles and image quality, just want to know if anyone else here has any experince with it. Thanks in advance Last edited by wildstallion; 18th May 2006 at 04:55 PM. |

not sure about sigma 10-20, but i got a tokina 12-24. so far so good, no complaint.
The normal comment about these few lens would be Sigma - If you wan wider Tokina - combination of good built, price and performance Nikon - best performer / Pro-Nikon / got $ Last edited by ExplorerZ; 18th May 2006 at 06:48 PM. |

I am also planning to get a Sigma 10-20.
Read on some online review .. common problem of a screwed lens is that the right 1/3 is blurry .. hopefully no one here got such problem? Any Vigenetting problem with filter or at 10mm? |

"Vignetting will occur if the lens is used with digital cameras with image sensors larger than APS-C size or 35mm SLR cameras." and for filters "The non-rotating lens barrel perfectly suits the petal shaped lens hood. A circular polarizing filter can also be used conveniently." Last edited by wildstallion; 18th May 2006 at 07:07 PM. |

some of my wide angle pic with this lens. i think the differences are mild in terms of final aethestic output. so far did not use other wide angles lens to compare, but i read this and decided on sigma.
http://www.nikonians.org/html/resour...out/index.html reason for my decision 1. second lightest - 470g 2. wider angle to allow better performance at 12-14mm focal length 3. cheaper than nikon 12-24 minus pt 1. usually have to shoot at f/4.8-5.6 max aperture. at 20mm ![]() at 13mm ![]() at 10mm ![]() of cos i did my own retouching via photoshop. you will get vignetting with or without filter...whether noticeable or not depends on composition...but easily fixed in PP...but if don't have the extra 2mm, PP cannot add it in

Read this article by Ken Rockwell comparing all the wide angles.
http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/digi...comparison.htm For me that extra 2mm over the 12-24s (even though the tokina is sharper and cheaper) is more impt . Love the lens! Especially at 10mm, got a bit fish eye effect ![]() Last edited by Eric Lee; 19th May 2006 at 11:09 AM. |

Anyway this lens would not be frequently used so i dont see how i could justify getting the nikon. |
